Jerny started travelling in 2015 to discover more of the Philippines and the world. In 2016, he started a travel blog called, The Jerny - Travel and Inspirations where he shares most of his travels, guides and some inspirational articles as well about traveling, life, and love. After around the first 4-6 months of the blog, his website host crashed and only the domain has been retained. He had to start from scratch in the 3rd quarter of the year and luckily, it started to grow.
He is a light-medium backpacker. Overseas or just out of town travel, Jerny admits a single backpack will suffice to all his belongings. He loves to travel with his girlfriend, Jane. When he traveled more in 2015, he get to know her better and eventually fell in love with her. Since then, he would always want her to be with him in all my travels as much as possible as long as our schedules match. They had been to mountains, the beaches, and other countries. If not because of traveling, he wouldn't have found her.

What's usually in your carry-on?
The usual carry-ons are of course a couple of t-shirts and shorts, some pants (depending on the place), my hygiene kit, and gadgets (tripod, cameras, mobile phone, chargers, etc). Influencers always have these things ready on their backpack.
Tell us about the usual type of clothes you bring when traveling?
I always try to bring the clothes I am comfortable wearing outside our home.
- Summer destinations: tank tops, white shirts, comfy light shorts, sunglasses.
- Winter destinations: jacket, thermal clothes, gloves, mufflers, coats.
What's the best packing tip anyone has given you? Who gave it?
The tip was given by my girlfriend, Jane. That is to roll the clothes to save up more space, and it works pretty well!

What is the best thing about packing light/heavy?
I always try to pack light wherever I go. Sometimes, we arrive early at a certain destination and usually, there is no place to leave our bags before checking in to an accommodation. We have to get going as time is running and we cannot waste time to wait for check in, so packing light is the best option to go around the area with your bags strapped on.
How does your packing for a travel routine look like?
If the destination is local, then I usually pack my things a day before we depart. I also keep a checklist so I won't have to miss a few items. If the destination is another country, for example, when I went to Japan, all my things were already packed two weeks before my flight so I could just grab and go. That way, I save time, reduces stress, and wouldn't have to worry about the things I need to bring as they are already packed long before the flight.
How do you deal with "excess baggage" situations?
Luckily, I have never experienced having excess baggage yet! That's because I bring a portable weighing device. But for other the other excess clothing, I highly suggest that you wear a few of them before heading to the check-in counter to weigh your bags and to lessen your load.
What's your best-kept packing secret?
Pack in advance. You also have to learn about the weather at a certain destination. You can't just pack your clothes because they are for your OOTD. Learning about the weather is great as you will be able to determine what are the right clothes to bring.
